To my daughter on her third birthday

To my incredibly gorgeous, super smart, princess-

Three years old. You are three years old and I truly cannot wrap my head around that fact. Three years ago my life changed enormously as I held you for the first time. All of the pieces of my life suddenly came crashing into place

and I knew that this moment was the moment that my life was meant for. I cannot believe that my tiny, little baby is now turning three. It feels like just yesterday I was holding you for the first time. For three years, I have had the privilege of being your mommy and while I am not perfect and make plenty of mistakes, it has been the most incredible three years of my

entire life.

When you were born, I was able to stay home with you and your brother for the first 11 months of your life. Those 11 months taught me so much about myself. I knew that being a mom was exactly what I was meant to be. Those 11 months revealed to me my true calling- being a stay-at-home mom. There hasn’t been one single day in the last three years that I have not smiled or laughed- you are the reason for that. You make all of my days better.

I don’t think that there is any way to put into words just how much I love you. You are every bit a part of me, every bit of my heart and soul. There is a special bond that we share as mother and daughter, a bond that cannot be broken. A bond that does not fade, a bond that cannot be described. Looking at you, I know that I have done some thing amazing in this life.

At three years old, I am in complete awe of you every single day.

For the last 1,096 days, I have been in awe of you. Your beauty takes my breath away and every day you get more

and more beautiful. Sky blue eyes, fair baby doll skin, and just the perfect amount of curl to your fine blonde hair are just a few physical attributes that make you beautiful. Your smile is absolutely gorgeous, and coupled with your laugh, can make an entire room of people join you. Life will not always go as you plan, but I hope that you continue to smile and laugh as you grow and journey through this life.

You have started asking questions about the world and how it works. At just three years old, you have so much curiosity and you are always eager to teach someone else what you have learned. You enjoy school and do so well at it because you love learning new things. I pray that you never lose that sense of wonder. Throughout your life, I hope you continue to question the world and keep your love for learning.

I am in awe of how intelligent you are. At three years old, you have an enormous vocabulary and speak extremely

well for your age. You know your ABC’s, can count to 25, and sing many songs. Others are always surprised with how smart you are. I am proud of you and I pray that you always remember just how smart you are. Baby girl, you can do anything that you want. Dream big and chase those dreams until they become a reality.

You may be little for your age, a very petite little girl, but you are perfect in every way and you have just the right amount of sass. Sass is an attribute that I do not want you to ever lose. It is important to learn when and how to use this sass, but in this world it is so very important to keep that sass. I hope you learn to use it appropriately. This world isn’t always a nice place and being able to stand up for yourself and what you believe is so important. Never let anyone make you feel like less than you are. You are strong, beautiful, and smart. You can do anything.

Right now, you love unicorns and sparkles, you are Daddy’s princess (and never fail to tell Mommy this), and a lover of all things girly. Working in the garden, being a gymnast, and spending your days at the park are a few of your

favorite things. I love when you ask me to play Barbie’s with you because I love spending time watching your imagination go wherever you wish. You have a beautiful mind and wonderful imagination. I hope that is something you always remember.

Right now, you dream of becoming “a doctor in a doctor’s office” when you grow up, which I love because medicine runs in your blood. You love to bowl, sing, and dance. My favorite song is when we sing “You’ll always be…” and you make my heart melt to pieces every single time. There is no sweeter sound than hearing you say, “I love you, Mommy!” Your snuggles are the best and I am unable to turn down your request for mommy snuggles. I know one day, you will be too old for mommy snuggles, so I try to always make time and soak those moments in every time. Times like those are when I wish life had a pause button.

You love your brother, Daddy, and puppy dogs fiercely and I pray you continue to love with that fierceness your entire life. Listening to you pray at night makes my heart so happy. You never fail to thank God for each member of your extended family, including your brother’s mommy. It makes me so proud each time. I pray that you continue to pray and grow in your relationship with Christ. I pray you continue to give love to all those you meet. I can only hope that I am setting a good example of what a mother, wife, and Christian should be. Watching you, I feel like I am doing something right.

You have changed my life and saved me in more ways than one. I know I tell you this all the time, but you are the absolute best thing that has ever happened to me. I cannot imagine my life turning out any other way than with you being my daughter.

Three years ago, you were born. Three years ago, a new, much better version of myself was born right along with you. You inspire me to be better. Because of you I want to be the best mother that I can be. Because you are the best daughter that anyone could ever ask for. I will always love you. You’ll always be my baby.
